Bio gas is produced by the decomposition of organic matter, such as human and animal waste as well as plant waste, in an oxygen deficient environment. Shift Innovation’s Swiss biogas partner, Zorg Biogas, design and build biogas plants taking plant performance and efficiency as well as aesthetics into consideration. Shift Innovation and its partner are able to design and build “batch process plants” with slightly higher manpower requirements or fully automated “continuous process plants” that requires minimal human input for diagnostic and performance monitoring purposes.
Biogas digesters use products such as animal manure, silage and grass cuttings as its feedstock. These may currently be used as fertiliser or in composting operations. The good news is that the biogas production process uses natural organisms and only releases the carbon, hydrogen and oxygen from the organic matter and leaves behind the valuable Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium in an activated form. The process effectively makes the nutrients in the animal manure more readily available for uptake by plants.
The system is also able to be configured to evaporate excess liquid in the by-products, converting these into a more saleable form.
